Welcome to our Website!

This site was created to follow the progress of a Homeschool project that we started in October 2004.Our idea came from the popular "Flat Stanley" project typically used by public schools . The idea of the project is to send our stuffed bear, Valentina, on a mission to travel to every state in the nation by May 1st,2005. We had a long list of volunteers who agreed to "host" our bear in their homes for three days and expose her to their home lives,state landmarks and take her on any field trips they make take while she was in their care.We also sent a journal along with her so every family could include a letter,pictures or any state information they felt was appropriate. As soon as we posted our idea on a message board,the response was overwhelming with people literally begging to be the first family to recieve her.We soon realized that our goal of completion by May 1st was unrealistic but decided to keep up the hard work and see just how long this will take.

Our project began on October 23,2004 and to date she has traveled to many states and met new friends. We sent her, along with a journal, to her first state,Washington,and the trip of a lifetime had begun.Almost daily we are recieving emails, letters, postcards and trinkets in the mail from the families who have hosted Valentina so far and there is so much interest in the progress of her journey that we decided to give everyone a place to come and get an update whenever the urge hits them.

Since we are a family who homeschools and Mom works from home,we are also excited about offering a place on our site for anyone with these same interests to come and be part of our online lives. We have a message board area that we invite anyone to post on and a guest book our visitors can sign. We have also included some of our personal links and a classified ad area where our guests can post items they may be looking to buy,sell or trade. We will also be adding lists of work at home job opportunities for anyone who may be looking and invite you to post any leads you may run across.

We hope you enjoy our site and we welcome any additional volunteers to contact us by email so we can get you on our list of host families. We would like to thank all who have already participated and those who are still patiently waiting for Valentina to arrive at their homes. We would like to say that we have found many wonderful people eager to participate in our child's sense of adventure,curiosity and most importantly- education!
